Sherman Brothers A to Z: R is for Round my Family Tree

The Tigger Movie 2000 was scheduled to be a direct to video release until then Disney CEO Michael Eisner heard the Sherman Brothers songs for the film. (Source Wikipedia). I chose this song because of all the tigger movies songs this has the most frenetic tigger-like animation sequences.

There’s momsey tiggers and popsey tiggers And tiggers I never knew Like sister tiggers and brother tiggers And cousin tiggers too

There’s grandma tiggers And grandpa tiggers As you can plainly see When we’re all together It’s a jumping jamboree

Round, round my family tree I look like them and they look like me Round, round my family tree We’re a happy family

There’s huge slews of nephew tiggers Uncle tiggers by the ton There’s whippersnappin’ great-great-grandpappy tiggers And grandma tiggers are fun

There’s skinny-little, tiny-little, thin, little tiggers Roly-poly tiggers too But we’re all relations And we’re quite a mighty crew

Round, round my family tree I look like them and they look like me Round, round my family tree We’re a happy family Round my family tree We’re a happy family

The firstest most roots of my family tree Reach way back in history To the braverest, fiercerest, noblerest tiggers You’d ever care to see

The heroicus figgers of my ancestor tiggers Have always been hailed and cheered And the scuplturous grace of our tiggerous faces Is why we’re all revered

There were warrior tiggers, explorier tiggers And tiggers of worldly acclaim There were glorious, fantasmagorious tiggers With prizes and fortunes and fame

There’s the glamorous branch and the amorous branch Of our fabulous family tree And when we sing together, We’re in perfect harmony!

Round an’ round my family tree I look like them and they look like me Round an’ round my family tree We’re a happy family-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

There’s momsey tiggers and popsey tiggers And tiggers I never knew Like uncle tiggers and nephew tiggers And grandma tiggers too

And when we tiggers all get together We really have a ball! The bounciest, trounciest, flounciest, pounciest Most tiggerifigest family reunion of all!

Everybody bounce! You know how to do it! Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

Sherman’s Brothers A to Z. M is for Monkey’s Uncle.

It’d time for week #3 in our alphabetical look at Sherman Brother’s movie songs. I vaguely remember watching this film either on Wide World of Disney or at a school movie day. I’m sure the Sherman’s were associated with their share of clunkers, but the song has held up reasonably well. Annete Funicello and the Beach Boys together? That’s a pretty good size of 60’s memorabilia to start your week off with.

The Monkeys Uncle (1965)

[BB:] Uh, huh, She loves the monkey’s uncle, Yeah, yeah, She loves the monkey’s uncle, Whoa, whoa, She loves the monkey’s uncle, [Annette:] And the monkey’s uncle’s ape for me!

[Annette:] I don’t care what the whole world thinks! [BB:] She loves the monkey’s uncle! [Annette:] Call us a couple of “missing links”, [BB:] She loves the monkey’s uncle! [Annette:] Love all these monkeyshines, Every day is Valentine’s, I love the monkey’s uncle, And the monkey’s uncle’s ape for me! [BB:] Ape for me!

[BB:] Uh, huh, She loves the monkey’s uncle, Yeah, yeah, She loves the monkey’s uncle, Whoa, whoa, She loves the monkey’s uncle, [Annette:] And the monkey’s uncle’s ape for me!

[Annette:] This in my heart jumps like a clown [BB:] She loves the monkey’s uncle! [Annette:] Feels like the circus just came to town! [BB:] She loves the monkey’s uncle! [Annette:] I live in a “jungle gym”, In order to be with him I love the monkey’s uncle, And I wish I were the monkey’s aunt! [BB:] Monkey’s aunt!

[Guitar Solo]

[BB:] Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa [Annette:] On the day he marries me [All:] What a nutty family tree! [Mike:] A bride! [Brian:] A groom! [BB:] A chimpanzee!

[Annette:] Let them say he’s the booby prize! [BB:] She loves the monkey’s uncle! [Annette:] He is the guy I idolize! [BB:] She loves the monkey’s uncle! [Annette:] Love all those monkeyshines, Every day is Valentine’s, I love the monkey’s uncle, And the monkey’s uncle’s ape for me! [BB:] Ape for me!

[All:] Uh, huh, She (I) loves (love) the monkey’s uncle, Yeah, yeah, She (I) loves (love) the monkey’s uncle, Whoa, whoa, She (I) loves (love) the monkey’s uncle, And I’m MAD about his chimpanzee!!!

Sherman Brother’s A to Z: F is for Feed the Birds

When selecting posts for things like the A to Z Challenge, I tend towards over analysis and rigidity. Like when I did super heroes a few years ago, I worked really hard almost too hard to make sure 1/2 were Mar,vel and half were DC. With The Sherman Brothers I wanted to bring the point home that they wrote songs for a plethora of different movies. This idea somehow morphed into a rule that said I had to include 6 different movies each week. Well up to this point, I have included a different film each of the first 5 letters but I cant bring myself to the point of missing the best f song possible just to satisfy a rule nobody else even knew about.

Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul’s, The little old bird woman comes.

In her own special way to the people she calls, “Come, buy my bags full of crumbs.

Come feed the little birds, show them you care, And you’ll be glad if you do.

Their young ones are hungry, Their nests are so bare; All it takes is tuppence from you.”

Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,

Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag.

“Feed the birds,” that’s what she cries,

While overhead, her birds fill the skies.

All around the cathedral the saints and apostles,

Look down as she sells her wares.

Although you can’t see it, you know they are smiling.

Each time someone shows that he cares.

Though her words are simple and few,

Listen, listen, she’s calling to you:

“Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,

Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag.”
