Sherman Brother’s A to Z. J is for Just say Yes I can.

Yesterday I didn’t write anything Sherman Brother’s related and wrote a brief post for my anniversary instead. Today, I am posting Sherman J and then Sherman K in a little while and will be back to normal tomorrow.

In the inaugural year of the Disney Channel there was a show called Welcome to Pooh corner which ran original episodes in the first few seasons of the then fledgling channel. I have only seen a few episodes of this show, seen is really too strong of a word. My friends children were watching the show a few times when I was a house guest there, It seems the Sherman brother’s wrote special songs for each of the show’s main characters that would play near the end of the program when that character was featured in the episode, I won’t say no is Eeyore’s song.

When there’s a hill

I have to climb

Although it seems too high

I hide my doubt

And start right out

And here’s the reason why

I won’t say no

I won’t say can’t

I won’t say I won’t try

I just say yes I can

And I get there by and by

I just say yes I can

And I get there by and by

When something new

Looks hard to do

I’m not afraid to start

I just begin

And lose or win

I try with all my heart

I won’t say no

I won’t say can’t

I won’t say I won’t try

I just say yes I can

And I do it by and by

I just say yes I can

And I do it by and by

I won’t say maybe

I won’t say no, not I

I may be slow

But this I know

I’m not afraid to give it a try

Give it a try, give it a great big try

So every time

You seek a prize

That seems too hard to win

The hardest part

Is how to start

Stop worrying

And just begin

And don’t say no

And don’t say can’t

And don’t say I won’t try

Just say yes I can

And you just might win that prize

Just say yes I can

Because a winner always tries

Spoken: Thank you for singing along with me.

The A to Z Challenge is featuring a song form the 1967 and 2016 adaptations of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book.

King Louie: Ababa doot-doot-doobie doop!
Now I’m the king of the swingers
Oh, the jungle V.I.P.

I wanna be a man, man cub
And stroll right into town,
And be just like the other men
I’m tired of monkeying around!

King Louie (Monkey Chorus): Oh oo-be-doo! (Hoop-dee-wee)
I wanna be like you-hoo-hoo! (Hop-dee-doobee-doobah)
I wanna walk like you, (Cheep)
Talk like you (Cheep)
Too-oo-oo! (weebee-deebee-doobah)

You’ll see it’s true (Shoo-bee-doo)
An ape like me-ee-ee (Scooby-dooby-dooby)
Can learn to be hu-u-uman too-oo-oo!

Mowgli:Gee, Cousin Louie, you’re doing real good!

King Louie:Now here’s your part of the deal ‘cuz… lay the secret on me of man’s red fire.

Mowgli:But I don’t how to make fire.

King Louie: Now don’t try to kid me, man-cub,
I made a deal with you!
What I desire
Is man’s red fire
To make my dream come true!
Now give me the secret man cub,
Come on, clue me what to do.
Give me the power
Of man’s red flower,
So I can be like you!

The 2016 live action remake of the Jungle Book was the beginning of the most current group of Disney live action remakes of animated movies. These have included Beauty and the Beast, the current Dumbo, and the upcoming Aladdin.

How do you feel about this trend? Is there an animated Disney movie you really want a live action remake of? Are there any Disney films that should be animated only?

Sherman Brother’s A to Z: H is for How to Be A Tigger

H is for How to Be A Tigger

Today’s song comes from The Tigger Movie (2000)

Roo:Um…
How to be a Tigger… how to be a Tigger…
How to be a Tigger is up to you.

Owl: Ah, you’ve got to look like a Tigger…

Piglet: And sound like a Tigger?

Eeyore: And act like a Tigger too.

Owl: If we paint black stripes on our underwear
And glue on whiskers too
We’re bound to appear far more as Tiggers do.
Unquestionably!

Piglet: Maybe we could all say “T-T-F-N”,
And shout “Hoo-hoo-hoo-hooooo!”
We all might sound a lot more Tiggerish too.
Ha-ha, do you think?

All: And that is how to be a Tigger,
How to be a Tigger.
How to be a Tigger is up to you.

You’ve got to look like a Tigger,
And sound like a Tigger,
And act like a Tigger too.

Eeyore: If we break things up and knock things down
And leave the place a mess,
That’s the thing that Tigger does the best.
I ought to know.

Pooh: And if I don’t eat honey from the honey pot,
Ol’ Tigger will plainly see
I must be another Tigger because
I couldn’t possibly be me!

All: And that is how to be a Tigger,
How to be a Tigger.
How to be a Tigger is up to you.

You’ve got to look like a Tigger,
And sound like a Tigger,
And act like a Tigger —

Pooh:Um, also.

Rabbit:Oh, thank goodness I found you all here. There’s a horrible storm headed for the Hundred Acre Wood! What on earth are you doing? Are these stripes? And springs? Have you all lost your minds?! You should all be covering the windows! Counting your supplies! And gathering the firewood! Winter is here, and you aren’t even ready. What are you doing wasting your time with all this Tigger nonsense? What am I doing wasting my time?! I’ve got serious work to do! At least I haven’t lost sight of what’s really important.

Piglet:Heh heh. Well, l really didn’t have enough time to gather any firewood.

Pooh:I am down to this last, lonely honey pot.

Owl:Well, come to think of it, uh, we don’t really look or act very much like Tiggers.

Eeyore:I thought I was pretty convincing.

Roo:Wait, wait!! We gotta do it we have to do it think how sad Tigger’s going to feel.

Pooh:Well, we don’t really know how to be a Tigger.

Roo:Yes, we do! Um…
If we could all be happy

Kanga: Full of friendliness and cheer

Kanga and Roo: He’ll surely see we are his family!

Owl: Ah, we’re filled with joy and laughter

Pooh: And the happiness he starts

Eeyore: And feel it from the bottom of our hearts.

All: And that is how to be a Tigger,
How to be a Tigger.
How to be a Tigger is up to you.
You’ve got to be like a Tigger,
Full of glee like a Tigger,
With a happy…

Eeyore: Ho-ho-ho…

Kanga: How to be a Tigger

Owl: How to be a Tigger

Eeyore: How to be a Tigger is up to you.

Pooh: You’ve gotta be like a Tigger

Kanga and Owl: Full of glee like a Tigger

All: With a happy hoo-hoo-hoo-hooooo!

Sherman Brother’s A to Z: G is for Get Together

G is for Get Together

Welcome back to a 2nd Week of the A to Z Challenge.

Today’s song comes from The Parent Trap a 1961 Disney movie starring Hayley Mills as 2 twin sisters raised seperately and reunited at summer camp. Lindsey Lohan played the role in the 1998 remake.

Let’s get together, yeah yeah yeah. Why don’t you and I combine? Let’s get together, what do you say? We can have a swinging time. We’d be a crazy team. Why don’t we make a scene? Together.

oh, oh, oh, oh Let’s get together, yeah yeah yeah. Think of all that we could share. Let’s get together, everyday Every way and everywhere. And though we haven’t got a lot, We could be sharing all we’ve got. Together.

Oh! I really think you’re swell. Uh huh! We really ring the bell. Oo wee! And if you stick with me Nothing could be greater, say hey alligator.

Let’s get together, yeah yeah yeah. Two is twice as nice as one. Let’s get together, right away. We’ll be having twice the fun. And you can always count on me. A gruesome twosome we will be. Together, yeah yeah yeah.

Sherman Brothers A to Z: E is for Enjoy it.

E is for Enjoy It.

Welcome back! It is the 5th day of April. That means it is tie for the fifth installment of my A to Z Challenge. My local movie theatre has a number of vintage movie posters including this one…

Nothing on the posters mentions that it’s a musical. I watched the movie about 5 years ago mainly because of the poster and I vaguely remember a musical number or two. Yet much like I said about Snoopy Come Home, yesterday I only recently became aware of the Sherman Brother’s involvement in the movie.

Jacques Paganel: Why cry about bad weather? Enjoy it! Each moment is a treasure, enjoy it! We are travelers on life’s highway, enjoy the trip Each lovely twist and byway, each bump and dip

If there’s a complication, enjoy it! You’ve got imagination, employ it! And you’ll see roses in the snow, Joie de vivre will make them grow, Voila, that’s life, enjoy it!

Since I must do the cooking, I’ll enjoy it! This humble tree smells gorgeous, you’ll enjoy it! Hurricane comes your way, enjoy the breeze Your stranded in the jungle? Enjoy the trees!

If there’s a complication, enjoy it! You’ve got imagination, employ it! This world’s a cornucopia, Why it could be,…

Mary Grant: Utopia?

Jacques Paganel: Voila, that’s right, enjoy it!

Mary Grant: Why cry about bad weather? Enjoy it! Each moment is a treasure, enjoy it! We are travelers on life’s highway, enjoy the trip Each lovely twist and byway, each bump and dip

Professor Jacques Paganel and Mary Grant: If there’s a complication, enjoy it! You’ve got imagination, employ it! Professor Jacques Paganel: And you’ll see roses in the snow, Mary Grant: Joie de vivre will make them grow, Professor Jacques Paganel: Voila,…
